British philosopher Bertrand Russell (1872-1970) is a great figure in 20th century philosophy. He was primarily interested in logic and language but was also an anti-war campaigner. Russell was a defender of atheism and wrote a popular pamphlet and lecture called Why I Am Not a Christian (1927).
